5th September 2016
The children enjoyed following instructions to create these wonderful Olympic sports. These include: kayaking, boxing, gymnastics, swimming, diving, running, weight lifting and running.
Paignton Zoo Trip Monday 27th June 2016
We all enjoyed our class trip to Paignton zoo, seeing all the different animals and plants in their different habitats. The children were interested in all areas of the zoo and asked many questions. We watched the Baboons being fed and listened to the talk the zoo keeper gave afterwards where all children were engaged. The Talk we had with Jo in the Education Centre was very informative and linked with our Science topic, 'Classifying living things'. The children were also allowed to look and touch many of the artefacts around the room.
We are extremely proud to announce that the three children selected to attend the Times Tables Rock Stars 'Red Carpet Event' are Jacob, Evan and Oliver from our class.
Well done to all three of them. What a fantastic achievement.
Today we carried out our own version of the Euro 2016 football tournament. We used rolls of the dice to generate goal scoring opportunities and set rules with seeding and tactics. In the end Italy (Evan's team) beat Albania (Ruby's team) in the final, is that an omen?
During our Maths lessons recently we have been working on percentages.
As part of our homework Mr Cozens asked the children to draw a shop with several items and to give each item a price. Their shop was going to have a sale! The children then had to take 35% off each item and write the new price.
These children took their homework one step further and made their own shops! They are amazing.
Dartmoor Trip 14th March 2016
We followed the River Meavy from its source (near Princetown) to Burratour Reservoir. Along the way we looked at various features of the river.
On Thursday afternoon, we were visited by Mr Hart who told us about his work making apps and games for the University of Plymouth. We really enjoyed learning about how you have to work as a team on projects and some of the coding and hard work that goes into the games that we love playing. We got to play on some of Mr Hart's games and then showed him the apps that we have been making with the site MIT App Inventor. He was very impressed!
After a great assembly by the Digital Leaders, we watched this video in class: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o8auwnJtqE
We then used screenshots from the video and some of the rhetorical questions that they asked in it to create these posters...

We have been enjoying reading Stig of the Dump by Clive King in our Literacy lessons. We came up with ideas for new chapters for the book and used the iPads to give an idea of what that chapter was all about. We used the Chatterpix, Telestory, Balloon Stickies + and Do Ink Green Screen apps and tied them altogether with the Book Creator app.
Roald Dahl Afternoon
Friday 25th September was Roald Dahl Day. To mark this we registered to watch the Puffin Virtually Live Broadcast from the Roald Dahl website http://www.puffinvirtuallylive.co.uk/author/roalddahlday2015
We also made drinks inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and played Twit Or Miss on the iPads.
